Dr. Sylvia Irizarry
Sylvia Irizarry, M.D., has been practicing General Pediatrics since 1995. She is board certified and bi-lingual, fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Irizarry has both a bachelors and masters degree in Nutrition from New York University. She completed her pre-medical studies at Columbia University in New York while doing research for her masters degree on the relationship between infant obesity and respiratory infections. Dr. Irizarry obtained her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her pediatric residency training at Loyola University Medical Center. In addition to being warm and friendly, Dr. Irizarry's approach to a patient and family is informative, supportive, respectful and caring. She believes that it is important to work in partnership with parents in the decision making process. For Dr. Irizarry, it is both a pleasure and an honor to do her best to provide quality care for infants, children and teenagers. Board certified, Dr. Irizarry is affiliated with Metro South Medical Center (formerly St. Francis, Blue Island) and Christ Hospitals.
