An otolaryngologist is a physician who specializes in the medical and surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. Their special skills include diagnosing and managing diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), mouth, and throat, as well as structures of the neck and face. Philip D. Kooiker, M.D., is board certified in otolaryngology. Dr. Kooiker is a graduate of the University of Iowa and completed his residency in otolaryngology at the Foster G. McGaw Hospital at Loyola University of Chicago. He is presently affiliated with Metro South Medical Center (formerly St. Francis, Blue Island), Little Company of Mary and Palos Community Hospitals.
