Alfonso Mejia, II M.D.

Alfonso Mejia, II, M.D., has been practicing orthopedic and hand surgery since 1996. He completed his residency at University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics and served a fellowship at Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Micro Surgery. Dr. Mejia is board certified in orthopedic surgery and holds a certificate of added qualification in surgery of the hand. He is affiliated with Metro South Medical Center (formerly St. Francis, Blue Island), Illinois Masonic, the University of Illinois and John Stroger Hospital of Cook County (County). At County, he teaches orthopedic residents from Northwestern, Rush and University of Illinois and plastic surgery fellows from the University of Illinois. Dr. Mejia, II is an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois. He has a special interest in hand and wrist trauma, and nerve compression disorders. Dr. Mejia is Program Director for the University of Illinois Orthopedic residency program. He has lectured nationally on hand fractures.
