Medicine: The general internist
is a personal physician who provides long-term, comprehensive care
in the office and the hospital, managing both common illnesses and
complex problems for adolescents, adults, and the elderly. General
internists are trained in the essentials of primary care internal
medicine which incorporates an understanding of disease prevention,
wellness, substance abuse, mental health and effective treatment of
common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive
organs. All internists are trained in the subspecialty areas of internal
medicine including emergency internal medicine and critical care.
Care by an internist is characterized by extensive knowledge and skill
in diagnosis and treatment, by the humanistic qualities of integrity,
support, sensitivity and compassion, and by personal commitment to
patients. Internists consult with surgeons when surgical management
is indicated. Well-trained internists are unique in their ability
to deliver care with great professional expertise and often act as
consultants to other specialists. |

Mary Anne Damiani, D.O., Dr. Damiani's education, training and
experience has prepared her every step of the way in bringing you
the quality personal health care you desire. She completed her residency
in Internal Medicine at the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center.
In 1991, she became a board certified internist. She is affiliated
with St. Francis and Palos Community Hospitals. Dr. Damiani is confident

Ashok G. Dholakia, M.D., has been practicing internal medicine
since 1978. He completed his residency at Illinois Masonic Hospital,
is board certified and is affiliated with St. Francis and Palos
Community Hospitals.

Kaihau
(Kevin) Lai, M.D., Ph.D.
Kaihua (Kevin) Lai, M.D.,Ph.D., is a board certified internist and strong patient advocate. Dr. Lai completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Christ Medical Center Program. He is a member of American College of Physicians and American Society of Internal Medicine. His special interests are diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders and arthritis. Dr. Lai is affiliated with St. Francis and Palos Community Hospitals.

Robert
J. Oliver, M.D.
Robert J. Oliver, M.D., completed his undergraduate work at the
University of Illinois, Champaign and Medical School and Residency
at Southern Illinois University in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics.
He is board certified in pediatrics and internal medicine. Dr. Oliver
enjoys taking care of the entire family and encourages patient’s
input in their care. His practice interests lie in preventive medicine,
adolescent health care and smoking cessation. Dr. Oliver is affiliated
with St. Francis and Palos Community Hospitals.

Rajiv
J. Vasavada, M.D.
Rajiv J. Vasavada, M.D., has been practicing Internal Medicine
since 1995. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and completed
his internship at Grant Hospital, Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical
Center and his residency at Michael Reese Hospital. Dr. Vasavada
takes time in discussing diagnosis with his patients and involves
them in formulating a treatment plan. In addition, he is a strong
proponent of preventive and evidence based medicine. He is a member
of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Vasavada is affiliated
with St. Francis and Palos Community Hospitals. He worked as an
Assistant Professor of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center
for 2 years.
